Open Call for youth artists
Select participants receive: monthly stipends, free materials, art studio access, guided instruction and a custom designed carbo-bike mobile printmaking lab.
What do I need to do?
Work with Oakland artists to co-create new art
Commit to 4 hours of studio time per week
Commit to participate for 16 weeks between July 1 - November 3, 2019
Attend a two-day orientation on Friday, June 21 from 12-3pm and Saturday, June 22 from 12-3pm.
Be able to participate in public events on the following dates:
End of Summer Festival: Saturday August 10, 2019, evening, at Oakland Public Library 81st Avenue Branch (tentative - in development)
Back to School Event: Friday, September 6, 2019, evening, at Oakland Public Library Main Branch
Oakland First Friday Art Murmur: Friday, October 4, 2019, evening, at Chapter 510 in downtown Oakland
Dia de los Muertos Festival: November 2, 2019, all day, in Oakland’s Fruitvale District.
How do I apply?
You must be between the ages of 13 - 18 years old
Be able to meet all scheduling requirements above
Have an interest in art and art making (printmaking, photography, video, painting, drawing, theater/performance, poetry, dance, or more)
Application deadline: May 31
Acceptance announcement mid June
